Zhangjiajie is a place not to be missed on your tour of China. Located on the north-western border of Hunan Province, this National Forest Park is famous for its unusual, but breathtakingly beautiful scenery, which includes more than three thousand unique rock ridges and sand stone quart peaks and eight hundred ghylls.

Marvel at this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s precarious peaks, clear-water streams, waterfalls, large karst caves, and dense forests, which are teeming with wildlife such as monkeys.

D1: Arrival in Zhangjiajie city

Local guide will meet and greet you at the airport or train station. 15 minutes transfer to hotel in Zhangjiajie city. Free time for you to explore the small city.

D2: Bailong Elevator, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we will travel to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park(coverage: 4810 hectares; the highest altitude: 1262.5 meters), via bus. Explore the beautiful scenery, while making our way to Bailong Elevator, made entirely of see-through glass. Take a ride in this famous elevator, up to Yuanjiajie Mountain, and have a bird’s eye view of the breath-taking landscape. Once at Yuanjiajie’s summit, enjoy a 2.5-hour hike to the Pillar of Southern Sky. One of the tallest of the 3000 pillars in the park, this pillar was officially renamed as the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain (阿凡达-哈利路亚山), in honour of the film Avatar, which was inspired by these peculiar floating peaks. From there, we will proceed to the Platform of Forgetfulness to admire nearby peak-views before walking across the First Bridge Under Heaven. Lunch at the local restaurant will be available at your own expense. Next, we will take the park shuttle bus to visit Tianzi Mountain, known as ‘the Monarch of the Peak Forest’. Pine trees, the Yu Bi (imperial brushes) Peaks, Xihai Stone Forest, and other incredible views and scenery await. We will then make our way back down. Opt to take the Mt. Tianzi Cable Way or hike down. Transfer back to the hotel, where you will have free time in the evening.

Optional evening activity is to see a Xiangxi Show, which highlights the culture of the Hunan people through dance and singing performances (available on day 3 also).

D3: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon – Glass bridge – Baofeng Lake

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. We will then travel via bus (40min drive) to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Hike through the Canyon and enjoy the beautiful, tranquil sceneries of breath-taking cliffs, lush forests, caves, colourful streams and rivers that surround you. Upon your decent, you can choose to slide down a 600-meter-long marble slide at no extra cost. You will be provided with a thick canvas and gloves to protect your hands, and be able to have fun and give your legs a rest! For those who dare, opt to walk along the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. This bridge is not only the highest, but also the longest glass bridge in the world. It is not for the faint-hearted.

Afterwards,if you still have the energy, opt to visit Yellow Dragon Cave for its peculiar limestoneformations, underground streams, and large caverns.

D4 Tianmen Mountain, Sandstone Painting Institute, Airport/Train station

After breakfast, get ready to take the world's longest cable car to the top of Tianmen Mountain(the highest altitude: 1518.6meters), 7.5km long. Once we arrive at the mountaintop, wander along the Ghost Path, 1400m above land. Along the way, you can also appreciate tourist attractions like Celestial Mountain Top, Glass Path etc. You can also marvel at such sights as the 99-Turn Road and the 999-Steps that lead to the gate of Tianmen from up high on a glass skywalk (only 5 yuan for covers to go over your shoes). Opt. to take a chairlift to see the Tianmen temple, or choose to walk along a footpath. We will then take the escalator to reach Tianmen Gate. After descending Tianmen Mountain, we will take a shuttle bus ride along the Heaven-Linking Avenue. On our way back to Zhangjiajie city, we will stop at a sandstone painting art gallery, where you can learn and appreciate this new kind of painting style.

You will then have free time until your tour concludes with your transfer to the airport or train station.

Zhangjiajie Travel Tips

Cuisine in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province is known to be very spicy! Local dishes are typically laced with hot peppers and chillies. Even instant noodles are mainly chilli flavour. Therefore, if you are not a fan of spicy food, please tell your guide that you would prefer non-spicy dishes.
Local people in Zhangjiajie are mainly from Tujia or Miao ethnic minority groups. When you are travelling in Hunan, please respect their culture and customs and listen to your guide.
Please wear non-slip shoes when visiting Zhangjiajie, as it may involve some hilly or steep paths. Please prepare some blister plasters if you are prone to any pain in your feet.
When take photos around the peaks, please be very careful whenever you move.
There are some steep roads sometimes, please slow down. For your security, be sure that "when you are still walking, don’t look at the view; when you are looking at the view, don’t walk."

D2上午游张家界国家森林公园。乘坐白龙电梯到袁家界观景台，观看《阿凡达》中的“哈利路亚山”，乘景区环保车或徒步前往游览峰林奇观——天子山。下午乘天子山索道下山游览峡谷和十里画廊。晚上观看湘西民俗文化歌舞表演（自费）。

D3上午游览张家界大峡谷，观赏空中玻璃桥。下午游览黄龙洞。晚上自由品尝当地美食小吃。

D4 上午乘坐缆车到达鬼谷栈道，游览天门山国家森林公园。下午乘环保车前往天门洞景区。晚餐后送飞机。

第一天：从上海飞张家界荷花机场，抵达后入住酒店。

第二天：游中国第一个国家森林公园——【张家界森林公园】,观【袁家界】（电梯上山已含）可观赏到：电影《阿凡达》中“哈利路亚山”原型“乾坤柱”、天下第一桥、九天玄梯、猿人望月、拜仙台、迷魂台、后花园等景点。乘景区环保车前往游览峰林奇观，被誉为峰林之王的【天子山】，千座山峰兀立云雾中、风光旖旎、景色秀美，游览天子阁、西海石林、御笔峰、仙女献花、、；游峡谷两岸林木葱茏、野花飘香、奇峰异石千姿百态，像一幅巨大的山水画卷的【十里画廊】。

旅游注意事项

张家界食物一般多油多辣，饮食上不能适应的旅客请选择清淡的饮食。
张家界地区多是土家族和苗族等少数民族，请尊重他们的文化与习俗。
上山轻装，少带行李，以免过多消耗体力，影响登山。但可带适量的干粮、矿泉水、运动功能型饮料、高热量零食如牛肉干、巧克力等，随时补充体力。
登山以穿登山鞋、布鞋、球鞋为宜，穿皮鞋和塑料底鞋容易滑跌。为安全计，登山时可买一根竹棍或手杖。
山高路陡，游山时以缓步为宜，不可过速。为安全计，一定要做到“走路不看景，看景不走路”。边走边看比较危险。
游山时应结伴同行，相互照顾，不要只身攀高登险。
登山时身略前俯，可走“Z”形。这样既省力，又轻松。
在高峻危险的山峰上照像时，摄影者选好角度后就不要移动，特别注意不要后退，以防不测。
为了保护张家界风景区的清洁卫生，请不要随地乱扔垃圾、废物，沿途皆有垃圾箱。
